The Jabber of the Joules

I love to travel and meet new places and people. To challange myself to try new things and make good memories so when I am at home, I can think and smile. I have strong feelings but try to keep an open mind.

Pita - New Year's Eve

So up bright & early, and then busily lounged around. bright sunny day, so Pita assumed it was 'warm out'. (ha ha ha)
It wasn't bad day before, but had dropped quickly overnight.
I told Pita the Celsius temp (-11) and he decided it wasn't that warm.
Decided to take a quick walk (bwa-ha-ha-ha) around the neighborhood.
Went over by the sledding hill (all the snow had finished melting yesterday with the warm up)
then continued around up behind the school and back on Compton. Was good until we hit the north and west bit - full into the wind. Very cold.
Had talked to Strange, and decided to run up to Caputo's for the party at Strange's that night

Made it around the block, ran into Jorie, & Caught up on Mark's latest adventure.
Let's just say, an axe got to meet his thumb. ugh.
So, Strange is ready to go to drop of Craig at work, we leap into the vehicle & are on our way shopping! (the first of many)
Picked up veggies & Fruit & guac making.
Pita got pink lady apples to make his apple danish. Yummy!
I didn't see how he made the dough, but the filling was
chopped apples (pink ladies)
chopped walnuts
ricotta cheese & honey
very good.
Headed to S's about 7:30 -
we played Gassy Gus and Spoons.
The neighborhood crowd was there - the Howards, Andersons, Con came out, Kathy (Ken) stopped by (she had two other parties to go to!) Denny was there, overall just a nice time.
Strange finally kicked us out around 2:30 - I was happy about it - couldn't believe we all lasted so late. It flew by! - Strange brought out some great liquor from her honeymoon - from Bermuda

Visit by Pita

Wow - talk about a flying visit!
It was absolutely lovely. To quote a British friend.
Busy, quick moving. Can hardly believe how fast.
Let's see -
to keep it interesting, I decided to start out by being sick. Yup - came down with a cold the day before, so it was trying to take over the day I picked up Peter from the airport.
That would be Tues Dec 30th
Luckily - speaking with Strange, she recommended Zicam. As do I - highly. knocked it down and felt much better much more quickly.

Worked Tues - left after watching on Flightview & seeing Pita's plane LAND EARLY!! Yes folks, at one point it was predicted an HOUR early. Does that actually happen these days?
and I highly recommend picking people up from International at O'Hare. Sooo simple.
I did forget about customs, but wasn't tooo early. They suggest 40 minutes average up to 2 hours to make it thru customs. Pita was out within the hour.
I always wonder where to find them, now that you can't wait at the gate... but they're two options, A or B that they exit thru and the board let's you know where that flight shud emerge.
Also close by parking and for under an hour it's only $2.00. Amazing. yes, I highly recommend having your friends fly in thru international.
Of course, then, you need international friends....
Or maybe you could request they all fly out of the country before flying back in....

So Like I said, got Pita, we jumped into the Bougmobile and were off.
Headed on home, and with him being a bit tired and me being a bit under the weather, after talking and grabbing some soup both crashed by 7pm. It was ok, had to stay up late next day.
